Hi, I’m Jenna Johnson

Hi my name is Jenna Johnson and I am an Interactive Design concentration in the School of Media Arts and Design with a minor in music industry. I am from Ellicott City, Maryland and live there with my Dad, Mom, and younger sister. I have been a dancer my entire life (I even began at JMU as a dance major) and I am on the contemporary team in the Madison Dance Club. I am also very passionate about music and my dream job is to work somewhere in the music business. In addition to dance and music, another one of my hobbies is hiking and adventuring. I love learning about and seeing the world around me, which relates to why I am excited to take this 3D printing class; I see this class as an opportunity to learn a special skill that I otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn.

The object I chose to represent me is a speaker, because music is a large part of my life and I often have the mentality that each playlist I make is the “soundtrack” of my life at that time.

The creative type quiz revealed that I am a Dreamer, someone who is empathetic, deeply emotional, intuitive, idealist, and romantic.

Hi I am Karina

Hi everyone, my name is Karina Arzubiaga. I am a junior Creative Advertising concentration with no minor because I could not think of one to choose from. I am a part of Tri Delta sorority at JMU and sometimes play volleyball in my free time. My favorite things to do are travel, play with puppies, and eat McDonald French fries:) I have always been super creative and love doing arts and crafts or really any hands-on work. That is why I am really looking forward to this 3D printing class!

The object that I choose to represent me is a plane because as I said before, I love to travel. I am a super adventurous person and have made it a goal of mine to travel to at least one new country each year. Shoutout to COVID for making that extremely difficult this past year! Any recommendations where I should go next?

After taking the creative type quiz I discovered that I am the Visionary type who imagines the impossible and lives in a world of infinite possibilities.

Hi, I’m Chance St Clair.

I’m a Junior SMAD major at JMU with an Interactive Design Concentration. I also have a minor in Integrated Science and Technology. My interests contain quite a bit of contrast, but I enjoy them nonetheless. I’m a big fan of technology, I love the challenge of figuring out new programs or whatever is new at the moment. Within that realm, I like playing video games with friends. It’s been a great way to connect during the pandemic. Other than that, I’m a huge advocate for the environment and environmental policy. So I go hiking a lot as well.

An object that I think describes me well is a dictionary. I most definitely do not claim to have anywhere near the knowledge of a dictionary, but rather I strive to gain more knowledge everyday. Knowledge is power, and I enjoy attacking/finishing projects that I otherwise was ignorant to prior. Also, my name is in the dictionary so I might be bias lol.

My Creative Type is The Dreamer

Hi, I’m Daniel Cymes

I am a junior Creative Advertising Major and Entrepreneurship Minor. I am a health and fitness nut, which lead me to get involved in the JMU Fitness Club and secure a job as a Personal Trainer at UREC. I am also apart of CRU, where I play drums and percussion for their worship band and lead a men’s small group. In my free time, you can find me working-out at UREC, making art, or hanging with friends. I greatly value self-expression, and I live out that value through music, art, fashion, and writing.

The Vitruvian Man‘ – Leonardo da Vinci, 1490

I chose this image because it represents the idea of the Renaissance man, an individual who strives for excellence and intellect in numerous aspects of their life. For as long as I can remember, I have desired to develop proficiency and knowledge in multiple areas of my life. My hunger to experience new things and learn about life inspires me to put my best foot forward in everything I do.

My creative type is the producer

Hi, I’m Unda

Hi everyone! My name is Unda Dittaboot and I’m a junior. I’m a DVC concentration with a minor in film studies. In my free time I love to watch lots of movies, listen to music, and go hiking with friends! I’m personally taking this class because I love creating and being innovative so 305 seemed like the perfect course to take. I’ve never worked with 3D printers before so I’m very excited to learn more about it this semester as well!

The object that I chose to represent me is a camera because I enjoy documenting and making videos of people and places around me. I appreciate seeing the world through a different lens and it is something I try to do daily. This object also slightly relates to why I want to take this class because both filming and 3d printing allow me to be creative and experiment in many different ways.

As a creative type I am an Innovator!

Initial posts need to be submitted no later than the discussion due date with questions and responses continuing throughout the remainder of the week and weekend (before our next class).

Hello

My name is Adrienne Hooker, and I have an MFA so just call me Adrienne (not Dr. Hooker). I will be your guide into the world of 3D modeling and prototyping this semester. I’ve been at JMU since 2015 and only then did I begin my 3D prototyping / printing journey. This is how I looked pre-CoVID…

And now you won’t see my full mugshot unless it’s through Zoom. Below are some of the adventures I’ve had since I began exploring 3D prototyping. First it was through a bunch of faculty workshops through the JMU Libraries.

Then in Spring 2019, I was an Integrative Design Technology Fellow, participating in a semester-long professional development course to bring 3D printing and design into faculty curriculum and scholarship. That’s where this course was developed.

In March 2020 the world shut down as we faced a pandemic. I was part of Harrisonburg Makers Help, a grassroots initiative comprised of Harrisonburg small business owners, community members, and JMU faculty and staff. We answered the call for personal protective equipment (PPE) when a national shortage left healthcare workers, eldercare centers, and first responders ill-prepared to fight the COVID-19. It was a monumental effort and the proudest moment in my 3D journey.
