Library Support

Participants in this program will have full access to OSU library resources and will also receive access to James Madison University online library resources for one year. JMU will provide a platform for the posting of secondary readings in electronic form.

Housing
The seminar has reserved a bloc of fully furnished and well-appointed private suites at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 1576 West Lane Ave., Upper Arlington, OH, 43221. Located within three miles of RBML and five miles from downtown Columbus, these clean and secure suites include a full kitchen (full size refrigerator/freezer, cook top, dishwasher, plates & Silverware), dining table, and living space area. Homewood suites offers complimentary hot breakfast daily, free wireless internet access, complimentary parking, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a business center, and a laundry service. 

The Homewood Suites is located across from the “shops on Lane” and offers multiple retail & restaurant options nearby. There is a Whole Foods located directly across the street from the hotel. The seminar group will transport to and from RBML via shared van or Uber.  

The cost of lodging at Homewood Suites is at a group discounted rate of $109/night. The seminar stipend will cover the majority of the lodging cost. Participants are encouraged to seek additional subvention from their home institutions to cover additional costs, including those of airfare, meals, and per diem. Previous experience suggests that lodging in close proximity will facilitate collegiality. The Homewood Suites’ total amenities, including its location, make it the best choice for our group. Summer scholars are free to lodge elsewhere, and will receive assistance if needed. 

Participants will receive their stipend check on the first day of our program. They will be responsible to settle lodging costs individually with Homewood Suites upon arrival.

The Seminar’s Approach to Housing Logistics
This seminar has arranged group lodging at Homewood Suites with an eye toward balancing comfort, collegiality, affordability, and convenience. This arrangement provides summer scholars with easy access to the extraordinary resources of RBML. Our program is designed to provide summer scholars with an opportunity for hands-on engagement with the earliest editions of books central to their professional lives.
