On December 12th, for my outreach event I brought my roommate and four suite mates to Carrier Library room 101 to 3D print. The object to the left is what they printed. We started by logging on to computers and I showed them the program, TinkerCAD. They were very intrigued because prior to this event they had no idea this room existed or how 3D printing worked. They were so excited that they actually wanted to create the square diamonds themselves. It took some time, but eventually they were all able to successfully design the object through tinkerCAD and export it to the 3D printers’ SD cards. From there, we waited approximately 25-30 minutes for the prints to finish. The end results turned out great and everyone was satisfied by this experience. One of my friends actually wants to come back and create more 3D prints and gain more knowledge on how to 3D print. Others are considering taking ISCI 104 sometime in the future. Overall, this event was successful, enjoyable, and definitely a great time for me and my friends.
