For my final project, I attempted to create a mechanical pencil in tinkercad. I originally looked to thingiverse for inspiration, but the designs there were terrible and would never work in practice. This was definitely the hardest thing I have had to design all semester, and I really had to think about how I could create an unconventional mechanical pencil, as the normal design proved impossible to print on the 3space machines. I decided to use a gear system to pretty smoothly ratchet the lead out from the tip. It took 7 separate pieces and I managed to fit everything together without glue, which I thought was pretty impressive. I designed everything myself inside tinkercad. The pencil is functional, but you might need to have long fingernails to use it to dispense the lead.
