I was tasked with making a ring design within Fusion 360 and Meshmixer. I followed the tutorial that we were given in to make several “first” rings in order to determine how big/small the ring had to be to fit on my finger. Once I determined that the diameter of the ring had to be roughly 19.8mm to fit comfortably on my finger, I went ahead and started a new ring and modified the original design that we were given as a tutorial. There were different versions playing around with the width and height. What eventually came from it was a not far off from the original design, but looked different and unique enough that I was satisfied with the result.

I then added an extrusion from the front of the ring to give it more of a “ring-look.” I struggled with Meshmixer for several reasons. 1) When re-meshing it, it just looked off for me and i didn’t want to add a whole bunch of unnecessary polygons and 2) When playing around design-wise for Meshmixer, whatever I, whether it be try to write my name or stamp something it, it just looked ugly and I felt it wouldn’t only caused some problems for Shapeways. Shapeways estimates that my ring will be shipped between Oct 24-Oct 31, so we’ll have to see how it turns out.
