First Draft

We chose to do a chessboard with the necessary chess pieces. The board is a relatively easy design that the only adjustment we will have to make is to paint it the right colors. The pieces themselves were a little hard to make in Tinkercad just due to their complexity and making sure that they could be printed correctly.

Here was our first design:

First Print

We only printed half of the pieces to make sure that they came out all right. After our first print we ran into a few problems with the size of the pieces and how their support had an affect on the printing. The King broke in half as I was trying to pick it up and one of the bishops did not come out well. Overall, I think it went better than expected by we will enlarge the pieces and maybe adjust the shapes so that there isn’t as much support needed.

Can’t wait to see how the next print turns out!

Final Print!

Our final draft went very well as we adjusted the crown on the king and printed the pieces separately so that the Ultimaker wasn’t go back and forth between pieces. It took a little longer to print that we would have liked due to printing the pieces individually, but they turned out much better. The board itself took hours to print since it had to be filled in but that was the last part that we needed and it turned out well!
