MAAP and JMU Library Digital Services are continuing an extensive digitization project to preserve and make available for research rare automotive literature, brochures, technical manuals, and more. History majors interested in digital collections creation and management, or material culture and technology, or historic vehicle restoration and documentation will be particularly suited to this internship project. The internship will include JMU Library training in archival scanning, tagging, describing, and cataloging from original documents and publications. You would be expected to enroll in HIST 340 History Internship and complete 140 hours over the semester (approximately 10 hours/week) on site at the MAAP location 2 miles from campus (1070 Virginia Ave, Harrisonburg). MAAP is a JMU-affiliated, non-profit organization with the mission to create cooperative opportunities between JMU, auto manufacturers, vintage auto clubs and enthusiasts. MAAP seeks to promote learning among students with aptitude in Automotive History, Engineering, Non-Profit Management, Economic Development, Grant Writing, Communications, Social Marketing, Event Management, and Project Management.
