Our students can make significant contributions to your organization, whether you are a museum, a library, a law office, a government agency, a non-profit, or something else. The Department of History emphasizes that our students be active learners who demonstrate excellent research, critical thinking, oral communication and writing skills, as well as various skills in using digital editing and presentation tools.  We also strongly encourage students complete our HIST 395 Research Methods course before applying for an internship.  We recognize that many smaller organizations cannot fully fund their internships. Yet in keeping with the recommendations of the National Council on Public History, we encourage organizations to make the effort to compensate interns with wages or stipends if at all possible.  If you have an internship you would like posted on this site, please email a brief description to Dr. Kevin Borg: borgkl@jmu.edu.
