Hi everybody! Lindsey Dunn and I have chosen to create the Tri Delta Place which is located near the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tri Delta raises money nationwide for St. Jude. Because of our large contributions, they have named the temporary housing facility for the families the Tri Delta Place.  Our philanthropy is very near and dear to our hearts. The families at St. Jude are never billed for the medical costs.  This is why fundraising and donations are so crucial for St. Jude to be able to run everyday.

We (Ashley and Lindsey) decided to test print our tree alone before printing anything else.  We added in support and printed our tree.  It printed out as a big blob and we were unable to remove the supports.

We learned that this tree was going to be challenging to print.  We thought to try and print it with no supports to see what happens.  We will keep you updated!

We (Ashley and Lindsey) reprinted our tree without support and it was a success!

We then decided to test print just our building in two different positions. We first printed it standing up normal and then laying on its back.

You can see that laying on its back printed much nicer and with less support needed to remove. We left the font coming off the building to test how that would come out, but I did not print well. It left behind small bumps instead of legible words.

In our next print, we plan to indent the text in so you are able to read it, and figure out a way to print our entire design, with landscape and trees, with the building on its back. We are thinking of making an indent in the landscape for the building to sit in and printing them separately.

This is our final Tinkercad project— The Tri Delta Place.  Me and Lindsey are very pleased with how it came out.  We ended up printing the building and the floor separately.  We printed the building laying on its backside, and it created a very clean print.  There was a bit of support that we easily removed.  The floor was also printed very clean which included our road and bushes. We printed this normally– horizontal. We are glad that we practiced printing our building prior to this print. We decided to scratch the tree… we thought that it took away from the from the focus of our project which is the Tri Delta Place. The tree ended up covering way too much of the building.  This was actually our first and only print for the final.  Iterating the designs throughout the past few weeks allowed us to be confident that it would print well.  Below we show the building, and ground in the first picture. Then we added in the second overexposed photo to show the writing and windows in greater detail.  All in all, we are very happy with our first project! 🙂
