Hello!  My name is Rebecca Field and I am the instructor for Math 104: Introduction to 3D Printing and Design.  I go by Professor Field, Dr. Field, and Rebecca.  My homepage contains some information about me that you may or may not be interested in, but I was a Math/Studio Art double major as an undergrad which is part of how I got into 3D printing.  I’m also an enormous fan of Halloween which is how the picture above happened (it’s not a costume so much as just getting dressed up in honor of my favorite holiday).

I’ve been a professor in the math department since 2008 and started helping run the 3SPACE in 2014.  My Ph.D. is from the University of Chicago in 2000 and I spent the next 8 years bouncing around the country with jobs in various departments.  I just got done with a year long sabbatical which I spent as a Visiting Scholar in the UVA Mathematics Department.  I’ve been with my wife Anne since 1994 because she is awesome.  We have two cats.

I am also extraordinarily fond of stuff, especially hats.  I have over 100 of them, but most hats are very picky about what you wear with them, so I tend to wear the same ones (old mens hats mostly) over and over again.  I also have 8 sewing machines and at least seven miniature fake trees.  I collect loosing lottery tickets (ones I find on the ground or in the trash) and love working on my car when I get the chance (it needs a new serpentine belt!)

If you want to find me, I have office hours in Roop 114 MW 2:00-3:00pm and Tu 3:00-4:00pm, though I can’t guarantee they won’t be full of math students.
