Dukes Swept on the Road by the Ragin’ Cajuns

KK Mathis and the Dukes go winless in weekend series against the Cajuns

Lafayette, La. – In an underwhelming performance from JMU, the Dukes get swept on the weekend after losing their game Sunday 9-2 against No. 24 Louisiana at Lamson Park.

The Cajuns continue their great season as they recorded 11 hits and 9 runs to remain undefeated in conference play moving to 12-0 and 27-13 overall. The Dukes fall to 21-16 overall and 5-7 in conference play after only putting up 5 hits and 2 runs with 2 errors.

JMU pitcher, Payton List, struck out three batters while pitching five innings and was also the best at the plate going 2-3. Reed Butler recorded her seventh home run of the season on Sunday. Two of the Dukes best hitters, Jasmine Hall and KK Mathis, both only went 1-3 at the plate.

For the Cajuns, pitcher Chloe Riasetto was credited with the win after pitching a little over four innings recording 3 strikeouts while only giving up one hit to the Dukes. Cecelia Vasquez and Laney Creduer both recorded home runs in this game. 

Up Next for the Dukes

The Dukes come back to Harrisonburg for a homestand against Marshall in a three-game conference series that will go from April 12-14. This is also serving as JMU’s Alumni Weekend.
