HM 441 Hospitality Revenue Management

This course was piloted in 2016 to complement FIN 345 Finance for the Non-Financial Manager in the current HM program. It is a data-driven discipline course to effectively manage rates and capacity applied in many service industries, including hospitality. The focus of this course is to help students learn how to apply revenue management principles to maximize profitability in the lodging and food and beverage sectors.

Revenue management (RM) tactics and strategies will be broadened, developing the relationship between accurate forecasting and sound financial decision making. Students will be required to understand displacement analysis and apply tactics and strategies over an online AI simulation. In addition to the lecture and reading materials, this course will draw upon the experience of both students and the lecturer to provide practical exercises (e.g. RM in the context of a hotel or restaurant), models, concepts and review relevant literature. This will be achieved by engaging students in classroom, with exercises, running small group work case study based project with an online RM simulation.
