Henricus Historical Park is currently seeking several talented interns for the summer of 2017. An internship with Henricus provides a unique opportunity to assist with research, management, and interpretation of the site’s resources, while gaining professional experience through hands-on training. It is an ideal learning experience for students who have a strong interest in history, education, or a museum career.
Interns will be assigned to one of the following areas:
· Artifact Cataloging – Interns will work directly with the Education Supervisor in cataloging the site’s archaeology collection.
· Educational Programming – Interns will work directly with members of the Education Department in planning and delivering educational programs, including the site’s summer camps.
· Historical Interpretation – Interns will work directly with the Interpretation Supervisor in interpreting and maintaining the site, as well as in assisting with historical research.
Dates and Compensation
Interns will work part-time and will begin at the end of May or early June. No stipends will be provided; however, Henricus Historical Park will make efforts to comply with individual school requirements for those seeking academic credit for their internship. Interns should be available to work a minimum of 8 hours and no more than 30 hours per week. Some weekends may also be requested.
Eligibility and Placement
Requirements will vary with each position, but generally, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and have completed at least one year of academic credit. Successful candidates will be placed with a staff member based on the applicant’s training and interests as well as the specific needs of the department.
