The 3D printing lab brings together all kinds of people with different majors and interests. A fellow student, Josh Mayo, is a Biology major and wants to go to Dentistry School after he graduates. For week 6 of class, he designed a mandibular molar tooth using Fusion 360. He used the sculpting environment and the create tool starting with a cylinder. This is what the design looked like on Fusion 360:

The sculpting environment is an awesome way to make an original design with smooth edges and a sleek look. Personally, I thought the sculpting was difficult so I found a tutorial that demonstrates how to use this tool successfully.

I was very impressed with how well the design printed. Josh used Fusion 360 to its fullest potential and produced a very cool mandibular molar model!

I thought this was a great example of how 3D printing is appealing to all majors. In our class, they range from sciences, theater, and computer science. This class incorporates creativity, some critical thinking, and lots of patience. No matter what interests you, 3D printing lets you express it! (…and you get to keep your prints to show off to friends and family)
