Patrick Moran is a Computer Information Systems major here at JMU and has been in our classroom since since the very first day of our 3D printing class as our 3-space Lab Tech. He  first got involved with 3D printing when he took a knot theory class in which he found different programs where he could develop different models of knots and print them out. His favorite program to do this, he found out, was OpenSCAD. For many students in this class, OpenSCAD was quite the obstacle. However, for Patrick, this was a program he was most able to complete the task of recreating popular knots. Patrick helps out in the 3-space classroom by fixing and maintaining the printers that we use. It is often that the printers need to be leveled in order for prints to properly run through the individualized layers and he is the one to do that. He is also in the lab during out 3D printing class in order to make sure our prints run smoothly. If we have any side questions during class Patrick is there to help us out. We also have two Makerbot printers in the classroom that can print bigger objects. One of them is currently working and the other one is not. Patrick is in the process of fixing the second Makerbot that is not currently functioning in hopes that we can once again have to Makerbot printer working in the classroom.
