This semester we have had the privilege of using our knowledge of 3D printing to help a puppy in need. The puppy’s name is Wickett and she has no use of her front legs so to help her get around as a class we have been developing different experimental models to help both Wickett and her owner since manufactured dog wheelchairs can be very expensive.
The carts that we produce will help to straighten Wickett’s back and to keep her from face-planting as se moves around her home.
This project has been the most rewarding experience while in the 3D printing class because while its cool to print out various knick knacks for ourselves is fun, helping to increase the quality of life of a living animal is much more meaningful.
