This was a fantastic class that produced far more than just final projects, but I would like to show off just some of the exceptional final project work that they did:
Amazing designs that everyone admired:
Nicole Carothers was a sophomore Marketing major who (among many other fantastic designs) made a series of ‘piggy’ banks for her cousin’s nursery. Her final project was actually only the pig-shaped one which is lovely and huge and abstract:
but she also designed a chicken bank:
Donna Moberg was a junior Business Management major who designed a Washington Red Skins themed chess set for her brother. Unfortunately we didn’t get a good picture of the final object (it was very impressive) we do have shots of a fair number of the individual pieces including
Carson Monroe was a senior SMAD major whose first and last designs were both castles!
There were also some projects that will have a huge influence on the future of the 3SPACE.
The most obvious is Rodger Hendrick and David Vicinanzo’s final project which was creating the 3D Printing Club of JMU! They produced a constitution for the club, filled out the application for club status for submission the first day of the next semester, produced a poster for Student Org Night, and created a power point presentation about the club. Thanks to their hard work we won the lottery and did get chosen as an JMU official club and can now bring 3D printing to a far wider audience at JMU!
Also, Fabiolla Brennecke who was a senior Theater major created a 3D printed scale model of the set for the student run musical Assassins. This marked the start of a long term collaboration between the Theater Department and the 3SPACE which will be producing not only scale models but props and costume accessories! Here are pictures of her final set and the digital file used to produce that set.
