Community Service

  • Illinois Youth Literature Festival, 2010
  • Served as the liaison between the University Community Archives class and the Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center to help create an archive of the community’s 30-plus year history in Champaign County.
  • Served as the liaison between the Muslim Student Association (MSA) and the University of Illinois Student Life and Culture Archives to facilitate the creation of MSA holdings at the University.
  • On behalf of the Women’s Alliance for Peace and Human Rights in Afghanistan, conducted several speaking engagements at Chicagoland universities and organizations, including Columbia College, DePaul University and the Gene Siskel Film Center (2001-2003).
