  1. Do you know of VA-based academicians who are reviewing the biased and inaccurate narrative of African Americans in Virginia that is found in history and social science textbooks recently adopted by the Virginia Department of Education? Do you know of any scholars who may be willing to serve on such a committee?

  3. The Racial protests of 2020 and increased polarization of 2021 has unleashed an attack on what is true & real vs that which is untrue and masked. Therefore, factual information based upon empirical data is now more important than ever. We MUST see things for what they actually are. According to my DNA I am 100% Virginian whose parents were a part of the great migration to escape white supremacist discrimination & segregation. I have had to learn about VA & why we left as an adult. Slavery was a fact. The Black Codes & Jim Crow of the South were real and as a nation we are STILL dealing with the fallout from it. Turning a blind eye will not erase the injustices of the past, but each generation should not be plagued with its disgust. We need to deal with it once and for all and try to move forward-together. If not, this country may again implode. I am grateful for sites like this that are brave enough to share knowledge of what was so that we can navigate the future of what we want to become.

  4. Nick Patler might be interested. He teaches at UVA and WVU as well, I think. The history of black Americans and Virginians is his passion. He has published various books and articles on the subject. He lives in Waynesboro, VA. I don’t have an address for him. I just communicate with him on Facebook. I know him because I knew his father when he lived here for a brief time. Oh. I just saw that this request was a long time ago. lol. Oh well, maybe another project will come up that would be appropriate for him
