Meet the Faculty

Andrea Knopp

 

Andrea Knopp is the Program Coordinator for the Nurse Practitioner Program at James Madison University.  She has also been a preceptor for NP students for several years.  Dr. Knopp has had extensive experience internationally and holds a Masters in Public Health with a International Focus in addition to her PhD and Masters in Nursing.

 

 

Betsy Herron

Betsy Herron is an assistant professor in the undergraduate nursing program at James Madison University. She received her BSN from the University of Hawaii, her MSN from Duke University, and the PhD from Mercer University. She has been a nurse educator for 10 years. Prior to becoming a faculty member, Dr. Herron worked in several areas related to cardiac nursing including cardiac intensive care, cardiac intermediate care, and cardiac rehab. Although Dr. Herron has traveled extensively outside of the United States, this will be her first trip to Africa.

  Sharon Zook

Dr. Sharon Zook is a Professor in the School of Nursing and the Graduate School at James Madison University.  She obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Virginia, her Masters of Nursing from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and her Bachelors of Nursing from Duquesne University.  Dr. Zook is a Family Nurse Practitioner who practices at the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic.  She is licensed as a Master Trainer for the Chronic Disease Self Management and Diabetes Self Management Program out of Stanford University.  Her work in chronic disease management has lead to publications in peer reviewed journals and awards at the university and state level. Dr. Zook has traveled extensively and has practiced internationally in health clinics in Honduras and Kenya.  She will be the Faculty Member in Residence in Antwerp for Fall semester 2017.
