Although our days in Tanzania are wrapping up, we all have enjoyed our time so far in Moshi while getting to experience the workings of Machame Hospital. Today some students stayed behind with Dr. Knopp to complete pediatric and adolescent check-ups at the Stella Maris Primary School, and had a great time! The other students went on to the hospital and all had different experiences. Some experienced various wards such as pediatric and ICU, while some got to go on community outreach. Our graduate student in the DNP program Caitlin Crowder finally got the opportunity to interview people in the community afflicted with diabetes for her doctorate research. Community outreach was an amazing opportunity that allowed us to actually drive to patients’ houses and experience where patients live while seeing the gorgeous scenery of Tanzania. It was definitely unforgettable! Our day ended with 2 students showing us all a choreographed dance created by them; so fun to watch!
