Goodbye Shirati, and hello Serengeti National Park! It was sad to leave Shirati, especially since we feel like we were just getting the hang of things. Our host, Monine (aka “Grandpa”), was sad to see us go but encouraged us to come back and visit soon! We already miss his delicious pancake breakfast.
Today consisted mostly of travel- from Shirati to Serengeti National Park. Three safari vehicles picked us up, and our journey began around 10am. Though we had many hours of driving ahead of us, the group was very excited about being able to enter the Serengeti and see some animals!! We were SHOCKED to see how close the animals were to our safari vehicles. They all seem so at peace; it was amazing to be able to experience it!!
This evening, we found ourselves at a “closed for maintenance” safari lodge due to a mistake with the people in charge who were expecting us at a later date. They felt so embarrassed that they sent us to one of their sister lodges- Seronera Wildlife Resort. Everything happens for a reason, and we ended up at the most beautiful resort!!
