Day two, and we’re all feeling much less exhausted! Breakfast started at 8, and by 8:30 we were off to tour the city of Dar Es Salaam. First, we toured the National Museum of  Tanzania and were able to experience some of the country’s early history. Our tour guide was excellent, and we learned so much about the history of the country including the practice of polygamy, and the early structures that served as housing for the people. One of the highlights of our day was the traditional African dance routine we watched, including drums, singing, and vibrant attire. Towards the end, we were all pulled up by the dancers to join them!

Next stop of the day was a tour of the Botanical Gardens. Our tour guide shared with us that he has been working as a guide in the gardens for over 20 years! The trees and plants were all so beautiful, many of them being hundred of years old. Some of us were sad to hear that the monkeys who play in the trees don’t come out until later in the day.

We ended our night with another helping of rice and beans. 🙂
