Abstract- Natalie Schmalzel analyzes how Andrew Jackson abuses his power in the position of President of the United States to remove the Second Bank of the United States, without acknowledging its contributions to the American people. Although the bank was thriving, President Jackson’s four year-long intentions to not renew the bank’s charter led to the downfall of the United States economy and lack of trust in centralized institutions. Jackson’s premeditated intentions to remove the Second Bank stresses his paternalistic attitudes and his willingness to misuse his presidential position to put his own desires over those of the United States people.
