After Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland, Poles were presented with a dilemma. The Poles either fight, or they submit. Many Poles chose to fight. Poland was, at the time, only recently given its independence after 100 years of German and Russian control. Many Poles wanted to prove to the world that Poland would not so easily submit to these two great powers once more.
