During a time of great division in the United States caused by the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement, Robert F. Kennedy launched a presidential campaign focused on unity and healing. His desire to end civil injustices, poverty, the war in Vietnam, and violence in American streets helped him gain a large political following. Challenged by Senator Eugene McCarthy, Robert Kennedy’s campaign gained momentum from his democratic primary victories in Indiana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and California. Unfortunately, his assassination by Sirhan-Sirhan ended his popular campaign, leaving only his legacy and “what if” questions.
