In 1924, two privileged young men from Chicago decided to commit a murder just to prove they could. The way they did kept the Second City clamoring for justice until they were apprehended, and the ensuing trial captivated the nation. The Leopold and Loeb case was one of the earliest examples of the entire country following a criminal trial vicariously through the press, retold countless times through books, films and television. While this case is part of American criminal history, the question remains, could they have actually gotten away with it?
