On May 13th, 1985, Mayor Wilson Goode and his administration dropped a bomb on to the MOVE rowhouse on the 6200 Block of Osage Avenue. This bombing was a black mark on the Mayor’s term and had a negative effect on his reputation in the immediate aftermath. But despite this black mark and the significance of the bombing, Goode went on to be reelected to Mayor and the bombing slipped into obscurity. MOVE and the bombing became forgotten because of the lack of connection between the city and the quasi-Rastafarian beliefs of MOVE.
