The Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, California in 1966. Despite how many perceived The Black Panther Party’s more radical approach to combat discrimination, the party’s goals and platform were incredibly progressive. The Panthers were able to bring together members of the black community from different walks of life by providing a wide range of service programs. Through these service programs and the bond the party formed, the Black Panther Party made being a Panther something to be proud of, which allowed The Black Panther Party to advance and unite the black community in their fight against racial inequality and injustice in the United States.
