When the Nazis came for the Jewish community the United States knew almost immediately. Yet, they sat back and did very little to rescue them. This uncomfortable statement goes against popular historical theory in America, which commonly states that the American Government knew very little about the atrocities taking place during World War II. The land of immigrants and refugees refused entry to the most vulnerable minority group of the second World War and it is important to understand how this could happen. Anna Conrad will discuss exactly how much the Roosevelt Administration knew about the struggling Jewish community as well as the deliberate attempts not to rescue them.
