This research paper introduces and the examines the life of one of America’s most infamous serial killers and their impact on late 1960’s culture. Charles Manson, a man with an infamous reputation came from a life consistently revolving around crime, violence, and manipulation. Manson became a strong influence over a select number of young followers who committed a series of atrocious murders in his name. These crimes shocked the nation and solidified Manson’s place in US history as one of the most feared and perplexing killers. Through an analysis of various sources, this paper argues how Charles Manson’s crimes and influence abruptly ended the cultural era of communal love in 1960’s America.
