Dukes Sweep App State with Double-Digit Output - James Madison University Athletics

HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA – The James Madison University diamond dukes finished off a weekend sweep of Sunbelt rival App State winning Sunday 11-5.

The Dukes improved to 19-12, 6-6 in conference play behind a career game by Jason Schiavone, who scored four runs tying a career-high for him.  The win moves the dukes to seventh in the Sun Belt leapfrogging App State.

It was a back-and-forth game with the lead changing hands three times before the Dukes blew the game open in the sixth inning putting up three runs on a 3 RBI double from sophomore third basemen Wyatt Peifer.

The Dukes scored in each of their last six innings, with seven of the nine dukes in the lineup getting a hit and all nine of them getting on base.  The offensive output had the Dukes over 10 runs for the seventh time this season.  In games where the Dukes score 10 or more runs, they are 6-1 with the lone loss coming to #16 Coastal Carolina in extra innings.

With the loss, App State falls to 18-11, 5-7 in conference play.

Up next, JMU hosts the Richmond Spiders in a makeup game from March 6th, it will take place Wednesday, April 10th at 6 PM
