Today, we began our day with Spanish class followed by a trip to a center for alternative medicine. This visit was very interesting because it introduced new methods of health care that I had never experienced before. The director at the center talked about the different approaches they use, such as reflexology, sound therapy, and various natural remedies. We were all able to participate in a variety of the methods, which was cool because we got hands-on experience with alternative medicine.

Following the medical visit, our group wondered down La Rambla to find a place for lunch. We enjoyed a three course meal at an Italian restaurant. Something that I’d loved while being here is how slow paced the culture is. Lunch is usually the largest meal of the day and can last for over two hours. I always look forward to this time because it’s a great time to come together as a group and unwind.

Tonight our host family took us to their local country club. We watched a few games of padel, which is a sport similar to tennis but is not played in the United States. Apparently it is very popular here, so it was interesting to have to opportunity to experience it! After the games, we went to the restaurant to get tapas. Overall it was a very busy but fun-filled day and I’m looking forward to what the next two weeks have in store.

Until next time, ¡adiós!
