Hola! Today was our second day of classes at URV! First we had Spanish class and learned about the different parts of the body (partes del cuerpo) and different sports. After our break we met with a nurse and she taught us the words for different medical equipment, items in the hospital, and common “nurse” vocabulary en español! It was surprising and relieving to learn most of the items are very similar to those in the United States making me more excited for my first clinical experience in Spain! Then we all ate lunch together and enjoyed the time between class and our tour in the afternoon.

The most exciting part of our day was taking a tour of “Tarraco” an ancient Roman Empire which is now known as Tarragona! Our group got to see the parts of “old tarragona” which were formerly a part of the empire. This included buildings which are the same structure as it was the empire, but are now currently used as housing, various shops and restaurants. We also got to tour structures which were formerly the temple and the Amphitheatre! It was very interesting to learn about the various uses of these structures and what they are used for today. Seeing these structures truly made me appreciate the history of the city and the beauty within it.

I am very excited to learn more about the city and the history within the weeks to come!
