Today marked the end of our time in Tarragona, but thankfully not the end of our trip! This morning, each of us said goodbye to our host families who welcomed us three weeks ago. I absolutely loved my time with my host family and was so sad to say goodbye! They welcomed Emily and I into their home and showed us so much kindness.

After our goodbyes, we set off for Barcelona! As our first excursion, we took a walking tour of La Sagrada Familia, a famous church here in Barcelona. La Sagrada Familia has been under construction for over 100 years, begun by the Spanish architect Gaudí. It was nothing short of magnificent. The exterior of the church was covered in sculptures done with extreme detail, depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

The interior of the the church contained architecture just as detailed and beautiful, and it flooded with colorful natural light through stained glass windows.

Throughout the entire tour, I was in absolute awe of extreme skill and intention that went into each detail and design, as well as the magnitude of the church, with the highest point reaching to 172 meters. Every bit was a work of art. We finished off the night with a fountain light show with a live bants playing in the background.

Overall, I would say that our first day in Barcelona was a dream!
