It was a busy day here in Tarragona! Today, we began the day the same as many others – at our assigned clinical locations.

My clinical experience over the past two weeks has been very enjoyable, as well as educational. I officially begin nursing school this fall, so this has been my very first clinical rotation. I imagine it would be challenging enough to jump into a health care setting for the first time, but doing so in a hospital where a foreign language is spoken – that has been a unique challenge. But the hospital staff on my floor has been extremely patient with my novice skills and my less-than-perfect Spanish, and they have graciously invited me into their system.

Following our clinical rotations this morning, we set off for somewhere a little more adventurous, an amusement park named PortAventura!

We kicked off our afternoon by venturing into Ferrari Land, an area of the park devoted to Ferraris. The first coaster lived up to the name and was certainly more thrilling than a ride in a sports car.

Next, we moved into the main part of the park. We did our best to conquer every ride in the park, starting with the most intense. I absolutely love roller coasters, and as we tossed and turned, I must have screamed “I love this!” atleast 10 times. While hopping from line to line, we were delighted to find more than a few English speakers, a nice break from constantly stretching our brains to function in a foreign language. We squeezed as much as we could into the few hours we had at the park and it was an absolute blast! After a crazy day, I feel certain that each of us will sleep good tonight!
