2019 JMU Teaching and Learning with Technology Conference

Date: Monday, October 28, 2019
Venue: James Madison University, Festival Conference and Student Center
Purpose: The JMU Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) Conference at James Madison University is an annual event showcasing best practices for using technology to support student learning. Educators and technologists from K-12 and Higher Education will experience intellectually engaging and informative presentations and workshops that enable them to develop their professional practice.

You are cordially invited to submit a proposal for the 2019 TLT Conference. Come and share your practices, experiences and perspectives about using technologies in teaching, research, and administrative services in Higher Education and K-12 settings. Your audience will come from a wide variety of developmental levels and backgrounds.

Proposals may be submitted for an interactive presentation session, micro-proposal, or poster session. The interactive presentation session is the presentation option with a twist – participants should be actively engaged and learn-by-doing (with technology or not) in your 30- or 60-minute session.

We are also offering a micro-proposal presentation option, where you have the opportunity to share a 3-5 minute long presentation about your favorite technology-related education topic or tool. The micro-presentations will be fast paced with all presenters sharing during one conference session.

The poster session is the time when presenters can promote effective and innovative teaching and learning practices, either through a standard poster, utilizing a small TV/laptop, or any other creative means of expression.

Interactive Presentation Sessions:

  • actively engage the audience
  • provide hands-on experience with various learning technologies

Micro-Proposal Presentation Session:

  • actively engage the audience
  • spend 3-5 minutes to sharing your favorite technology-related education topic or tool
  • must send slides a week before conference

Poster Sessions:

  • promote effective and innovative teaching and learning practices
  • emphasize collaborative approaches
  • promote exploration of innovation solutions for the classroom
  • Presenters will be supplied with a table, power outlets, extension cords, and poster stands.

Proposal Submission:

Please submit your proposal online by September 16, 2019, at 5pm. Presenters will be notified of their session status by September 18, 2019.
