Tinkercad Final Project:
Wilson Edition
For my Tinkercad final project I really wanted to do something involving architecture. With that in mind the first thing that came to mind was somewhere at JMU! Then I thought what else is better than one of the main focal points of campus. I’ve been using several pictures and angles of Wilson to begin the design and realized that adding all of the pieces is very time consuming and slightly difficult. Below I’ll include some of the pictures I used.
Design process and final design:
Over the week I have added a significant amount of detail to Wilson. I had to do a lot of large building then shrinking it down and adjusting. I’d say that aligning everything and grouping it were the hardest part as it was pretty difficult to space all the windows and bricks. I wanted to challenge my design skills with this project and go above what I thought I was capable of. It turns out that I’m not so bad with Tinkercad, and when I took my time I accomplished a task I wasn’t sure I was able to. Below I will include some more designs and the finished product. the print itself took about 15 hours and I had to print it 3 different times. The front printed with really hard to get out supports so I had to work around that. I printed 3 times because I continuously broke parts of the model pulling off supports, even when I was careful. Overall I’m extremely happy with the finished print.
The first and last print.
