If I have learned anything in college it is that things rarely go to plan. My classmates and I facilitated an event for JMU faculty and staff. We created our facilitation guide with the 20 people who had expressed interest in mind. To everyone’s surprise, only 4 people ended up coming, I was silently panicking. The tables were arranged for multiple groups, thus we had to quickly adjust the tables and our original plan. All participants were put in the same group and facilitators alternated leading the group. This experience taught me to adapt quickly. Just because something isn’t going to plan, doesn’t mean it will end badly. We still has a productive conversation with the four participants.
