Dr. Bernie Kaussler
Political Science
Dr. Bernie Kaussler is Associate Professor of Political Science. His research focus deals with diplomacy and statecraft, conflict management, US foreign policy and Middle East security. His latest book was published by Routledge in 2017 and is on the impact of US foreign policy on Middle East security: US Foreign Policy Towards the Middle East: The Realpolitik of Deceit He enjoys the intersection of scholarship and the policy-making community. To that end, he has produced national security teaching materials for the US armed forces and participated in war games. Teresa Cummings
Teaching Assistant
Teresa is an undergraduate student studying both Writing Rhetoric and Technical Communications (focusing on Scientific and Technical Writing) and Modern Spanish to English Translation. Teresa will graduate in May 2019.
Dr. Qingjiu (Tom) Tao
School of Integrated Sciences
Dr. Qingjiu (Tom) Tao teaches in the school of Integrated Sciences at James Madison University. He received his Ph.D. in Strategic Management and International Business from University of Pittsburgh in 2004. His research on alliance portfolio and competitive intelligence has been published in Strategic Management Journal and Competitive Intelligence Review. He is a fellow at Council of CI Fellows.
He has spoken at the Wharton School, Dartmouth, University of Tokyo, University of Michigan, AutoUni—VW and testified as an expert before the congressional US. -China Economic and Security Review Commission on China’s auto industry. He is a frequent commentator on emerging technology and business issues in China.
Dr. David Bernstein
Computer Science Department
Dr. David Bernstein is a Professor of Computer Science at James Madison University. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.P.A. from Princeton University, and a B.A. from Binghamton University. Before getting his Ph.D., Dr. Bernstein was a researcher at Atlantic Commodities and was the Vice President of Software Development for Investment Technologies. Since completing his Ph.D., Dr. Bernstein has been a faculty member at MIT, Princeton University, and James Madison University. His research focuses on the use of computing and communications technologies in transportation and he has published numerous papers on these topics. He has worked as a consultant developing in-vehicle navigation systems, GISs and models for transportation planning, and economic/financial analysis tools.
