Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, is just one of many Air Force bases around the country that is struggling with pilot retention. Despite the offer of retention bonuses, many pilots are choosing to leave the service and join commercial airlines. One of the biggest complaints Air Force pilots have is the amount of time it takes to deal with paperwork after returning home from a mission. Sponsored by a US Air Force Major and US Air Force Captain, the Fast Flyers team aims to decrease the pilots’ pain of dealing with paperwork by presenting an electronic alternative to the current pen-and-paper method. Over the course of the semester, our team will interview various individuals, both in and out of the Air Force, to determine the best possible solution that will reignite the pilots’ passion for flying.
