Medical Innovations
Welcome to Medical Innovations
“Medical Innovations” is a class at James Madison University that employs design thinking methodologies and an empathy-based approach to solve complex or “wicked” problems in the healthcare sector. For the Fall 2017 offering of the course, engineering, nursing, and pre-professional health students are working together in multidisciplinary teams to seek tangible solutions to the opioid crisis. The course takes place in the X-Labs, a technologically advanced “maker space” at JMU, and is team-taught by faculty from the Departments of Nursing, Biology, and Engineering.
