CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Chubb Club (CCC) put up a season high point total in their victory this week against the Baltimore Blue Crabs. They took home the win by a score of 147.68-112.22 in front of a packed home crowd at Great Lakes Stadium.
The CCC was led by its standout wide receiver Ceedee Lamb who put up 13 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb had a slow start to the game, but got going in the fourth quarter where he scored both of his touchdowns to push Cleveland out of reach. Lamb wasn’t the only Chubb Clubber to have an impressive day.
Newly acquired Tight end Travis Kelce also had his best performance of the season in his second game with the CCC. Kelce recorded 10 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown as well, his first of the season.
The Chubb Club defense struggled to contain some Blue Crab players. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey put up a season high number of receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. The rookie out of Georgia had six receptions, 111 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Running back De’Von Achane also had a great day both on the ground and through the air. Achane had 97 rushing yards on 10 attempts along with six receptions, 75 yards, and a receiving touchdown.
Despite these impressive performances, the defense and special teams units for the Chubb Club still had a stand out day. The defense put up four sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble plus the recovery. The special teams unit also ran a punt back to the endzone for a punt return touchdown.
Cleveland sustained a new injury concern, on top of its other looming injury issues, as running back Jordan Mason went down after aggravating a left shoulder sprain at the end of the first half. Wide receiver Mike Evans also missed this week and will most likely be forced to miss next week as well as he continues to nurse a right hamstring injury. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed will remain on IR for the rest of the season as Cleveland attempts to get healthy.
This win improves the Chubb Club to 3-5 as they continue to fight back after a disappointing 0-3 start. They will surely hope to ride this performance into next week’s matchup where they face off against the 4-4 Harrisonburg Hornets.
