ANCHORAGE, AK – The Alaskan Bull Worms came up short at home in the Last Frontier Stadium, falling to the Paradise Pink Panthers with a final score of 132.90 – 119.24.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Alvin Kamara fought hard for the Bull Worms, as Lamar finished with over 200 total yards and 3 total touchdowns, and Kamara tacked on over 100 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown for the home team. Wide receiver Michael Pittman also stepped up following a disappointing start to the season, finishing with 17.3 points.
The Pink Panthers were able to overcome the surge from the Bull Worms, in large part thanks to a great performance by wide receiver Diontae Johnson and strong defense by the San Francisco 49ers squad. DJ hauled in 83 yards and a touchdown, and the 49ers defense forced three turnovers and scored a touchdown on the way to the win.
Reporters spoke to Head Coach Eugene Krabs after the game, who expressed his frustration with the two straight losses.
“Our offense performed well today, their defense just stepped up and played better. They were flying around and looked like a cohesive unit on that side of the ball. We have to take advantage of our opportunities against a good team like that. Now, we’ve learned from this loss and are looking towards preparing for next week.”
This week’s loss brought the Alaskan Bull Worms record to 2-2, despite a strong 2-0 start to the season.
The Bull Worms will look to bounce back in Week 5, as they go on the road to take on the Brooklyn Colossus.
