Dukes Dominate UAlbany in a 21-12 Win to Extend their Undefeated Record

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women’s lacrosse continues their perfect record moving to 5-0 on the season at Sentara Park Sunday (Feb. 25) afternoon.

What led the Dukes to cruise to this win was their explosive second-half gameplay. The Dukes had a strong presence on offense which led to their combined 21 team goals. Attackers Katelyn Morgan and Maddie Epke tallied five goals each. Kacey Knobloch was another dominant offensive force as she recorded her second hat trick of the season, as well as leading the team with four assists during the game.

Not only did the Dukes have a solid offensive presence, but on the other end of the field they had a shutdown defense. Defensively, there were three players that made a huge difference in the game. Ava Bleckley, Nicholle Marshall, and Courtney Quirk made big contributions to limit UAlbany to 12 goals in total. Bleckley tallied three ground balls and a caused turnover, Marshall recorded three turnovers and a ground ball, while Quirk led the team with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Goalkeeper, Grace Cincebox, recorded a total of 9 saves.

Lots of positive energy came from the Dukes post-game as they continued their undefeated season (5-0). JMU aims to begin the season 6-0 for the first time since winning the national championship in 2018. Before a 15–12 defeat at Maryland, the team was 8–0.

UP NEXT:

Next weekend, the Dukes will be back in action at Furman in Greenville, S.C. on Saturday, March 2nd, while they try to continue their undefeated season so far. The opening draw is set for 11 am. This will be the first-ever match-up between the JMU Dukes and the Furman Paladins.
