CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Cadets lost its third straight game of the season last Sunday, falling to the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks, 132.04 -113.18. Despite another loss, Charleston running back Antonio Gibson, kicker Mason Crosby and the defense made a big impact on the stat sheet and fantasy points board. The rest of the players didn’t meet the team’s expectations, a key reason why the Cadets fell short again.

The Blue Streaks had three players seal the deal for its team’s victory. Quarterback Kyler Murray threw for 316 passing yards and scored one rushing touchdown (41.54 points). Running back Derrick Henry had another productive performance on the ground, rushing for 113 yards and added another 31 receiving yards (20.40 points). Wide receiver Brandin Cooks had a field day, catching the ball for 112 yards and had an 82 catch percentage (9-11) (21.70 points).

Charleston head coach John Harbaugh said in his post-game conference that as the season continues, he wants his team to fix its mistakes and progressively improve.

“We certainly had a lot of missed opportunities. We are in a place where fundamentally, we have a lot of work to do on how we play…and we’re making our plans to work on that stuff and continue to improve.”

Despite the loss, the Cadets still had a few bright spots. Gibson had a season-high 73 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown (20.20 points, season-high). Crosby scored a season-high of three-made field goals and 12 total points (16.00 points). The defense finished with three sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown (18.00 fantasy points).

Charleston finished with more lows than highs. QB Lamar Jackson had one touchdown, but didn’t return the favor with two turnovers (19.28 points). The team’s two starting wide receivers, Allen Robinson and Robby Anderson, finished with only 35 receiving yards (6.50 total points). RB James White ended the day with six rushing yards (0.60 points), after leaving the game with an injury.

“Right now, we’re not where we’re supposed to be,” Gibson said in his post-game conference. “Far from it. But, it’s a long season. [We] just got to go too work next week before the game and fix what we need to fix.”

The Cadets are set to play at the Orlando Hurricanes (3-0) this Sunday. Kickoff will take place at Walt Disney Arena at 1 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on WTAT and listen on 98.9 FM.
