Week 1 Game Recap: Phoenix Flames Fall Short

PHOENIX – 152.98 – 88.12, the Phoenix Flames are hungry for a win, after a loss to the Harrisonburg Valley Bees.

 

During the lows of the game, wide receiver Jalvis Landry was able to still pull through scoring a 19.40 for the Flames, receiving the highest score out of all the players. Landry had 13 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, and five catches for 71 receiving yards. On the other hand, running back Ronald Jones fell behind with a fumble, earning the Flames negative points with -1.60.

 

“We are not going to let this loss define the rest of our season,” said head coach Marshall Smith. “We are going to reevaluate our game plan and come back strong for our next game.”

 

The Phoenix Flames’ players struggled as a whole to get yardage. However, RB Dalvin Cook carried the team with 61 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 43 receiving yards and one fumble (19.40). The Harrisonburg Valley Bees displayed a strong performance, especially from WR Tyreek Hill. Hill received 11 catches for 197 receiving yards and one touchdown (41.10). QB Tua Tagovailoa also opened the season well with 16 completions, 202 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown (21.18). 

 

The Phoenix Flames (0-1) are playing the Sacramento Salamanders (1-0)  in the next match up Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. kick off on their turf at the Heineken Stadium.
