SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The San Antonio Chaps extended their league-best win streak to five Sunday after defeating the Salt Lake City Otters, 156.26-126.78. The Chaps outscored the Otters in all but three positions.
Chaps quarterback Deshaun Watson led the game with 44.16 points via 309 passing yards, two touchdowns and 38 rushing yards. San Antonio FLEX/quarterback Derek Carr went 24-of-36 for 284 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, totaling for 30.26 points — the third-highest total in the game.
Salt Lake City had three players with over 28 points. Running back James Robinson had the team-high with 32.70 via 119 yards on the ground and a touchdown, quarterback Daniel Jones added 29.68 with two scores and wide receiver D.J. Moore supplemented 28.30 points.
San Antonio made the difference with two more players having over 20 points. Wide receiver Tyler Boyd’s 101-yard, one-touchdown performance added 29.74 points, while running back Todd Gurley contributed 21.20 points en route to the Chaps’ win.
The Chaps have now scored the most points in the league with a total of 1145.24, and now move up to second place in the league and in their division. The Otters, however, fall to 1-6 and sit at No. 13 in the league.
San Antonio — now 5-2 — turns its attention to in-state rival Austin Vipers (4-3) at the Alamodome. Salt Lake City will face the 4-3 Honolulu Volcanoes.
