OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma City Dinos lost their week 5 matchup against the Portland Beavers at Devon Energy Field, losing 128.30 – 97.66.

Jared Goff, Quarterback for the Dinos, was a huge part of the game for the Dinos, dominating with a total of 309 yards. He completed his first 10 passes of the afternoon and finished 21 for 30 for 309 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, contributing his big 39.36 game. Alongside Goff was wide receiver Keelan Cole, who scored a touchdown by the right boundary line. The reception marked Cole’s first and only reception of the game, but his touchdown play gave him a total of 14.70 points.

While the Dinos had a solid offense, it wasn’t enough to pull out a win against Portland’s strong defense. The Beaver’s looked to quarterback Baker Mayfield for big passes, which he completed. Mayfield had 247 passing yards, made 21 out of 37 passes, and had 2 touchdowns. Mayfield scored a total of 19.58 points for the Beavers.  Another strong force for Portland this game was tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce scored a touchdown and this combined with his 108 yards earned the team 25.80 fantasy points.

Following the game, Assistant Coach Mark Roberti exclaimed the teams overall energy and momentum has been stagnant. The Dino’s were able to secure a win last week against the Volcanoes, but failed to carry that momentum into this game against Portland. The coaching staff is looking to make some quick adjustments to see what can be done for the upcoming game.

“I will be the first to admit we were definitely trailing behind the first few weeks of the season. After a few roster changes over the past 2 weeks, we have seen some major improvements, but we weren’t able to overcome the Beaver’s strong offense. Overall, we need to step it up on both sides of the ball. Our offense and defense need to be on point going into next week. We just did not get much form our key players this week and this lack of consistency is detrimental.”

This loss brings the Dinos’ record to 1-4.

Next week the Oklahoma City Dinos are on the road to face the Memphis Souls (3-2) on their grounds.
