PORTLAND, OR- It was a long flight home for the Memphis Soul after they were obliterated on the road 192.08 to 116.70 by the Portland Beavers in their first game without star running back Christian McCaffrey

Quarterback Kyler Murray led the way for the Soul for the third week in a row scoring 32.70 points thanks to 270 passing yards and two touchdowns, with 29 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Murray didn’t get nearly enough help from his teammates though as the Soul’s next leading scorer running back Jerick Mckinnon had 16.70 points on 38 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Beavers jumped out to an early lead and only expanded it throughout the day, they were led by a monster performance from Quarterback Josh Allen who scored 46.24 points, passing for 311 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for a fifth score. Running back Rex Burkhead also lit it up against the Soul with 34.80 points on 98 total yards rushing and receiving with three touchdowns.

It was the second straight blowout loss for the Soul after they won their opener, and Head Coach Phil Radcliffe was none too pleased in his post-game press conference.

“That was downright embarrassing, I was incredibly disappointed with our performance. We should never get blown out like that so the fact that it’s happened two weeks in a row is an absolute disgrace. We’ve got a lot of work to do for Harrisonburg next week, because if we don’t turn it around there’s going to be big changes.”

The loss dropped the Soul to 1-2 on the year ahead of next week’s game in Harrisonburg against the 2-1 Valley Bees.
